About the course

Losses are part of life. David experienced loss in his life, as described in 1 Samuel 30:3-6. Lazarus’ sisters, Mary and Martha, experienced loss and a sense of powerlessness (see John 11). Job experienced many losses, and we will consider the story of Job in this topic.

How do we behave when we experience losses and powerlessness? It can be difficult to know how to comfort a grieving friend or relative. Accept that you are powerless to change the situation. Instead, simply be present and provide hope and a positive outlook for the future. How we behave when we experience losses and powerlessness matters a lot. In this module, you will learn about the nature of loss and powerlessness and how to respond during seasons of loss.

Explore the universal nature of loss

No one on earth is immune to losses, people are born and people die. since we have no apparent power over death then the best option is to discover how to handle situations in which we experience the loss of a loved one.

Acquire tools to battle feelings of powerlessness and find empowerment

When we find ourselves in a situation of loss and powerlessness, our best bet is to look on to God who grants us strength to overcome even the darkest of times.

Build your house on the rock

Days of loss and powerlessness will come. Build your life on God’s word so you will be able to withstand those days. You are more than a conqueror. Keep your peace in God.
