Instructor: Moses SowaleLanguage: English
This word was first coined by Edwin Friedman, a Rabbi and a family therapist based in New York City from the 1950s-1990s (google). Non Anxious Presence simply connotes being free from anxiety, tension or a feeling of being unruffled even in the face of an unpleasant situation. NAP is the ability to provide a calm, cool, focused inner and outward environment that empowers others to be relaxed and de-escalate. The person that is non-anxious means he remains calm even when everyone else around is in panic. This does not mean that the person is uninvolved and unemotional—his presence in the situation precludes that (ourdailybread.org). Other synonyms includes; easygoing, happy-go-lucky, unbothered, calm, unworried and cheerful etc
