We need to take ownership of our thoughts, words, and actions because it helps us move forward in our lives. But, most importantly, we need to take ownership of our talents. In this module, you will learn about taking ownership of your choices and their consequences.
You can pass around blame for a while, but eventually, you must take ownership of your actions. In Genesis 3, Adam blamed God and Eve blamed the serpent. Who will the serpent blame? We will not own up to our actions if we blame others. We blame the government, other people, circumstances, parents, children, or spouses. We even blame the devil. Why? We have not taken ownership.
Do not waste what God has given you. Take ownership of it. You are a caretaker in this life; That man must not escape your grasp. Your dream must not be lost in your hand. Take care of your home, car, belongings, and, most importantly, yourself. Take dominion of your domain. How are you managing the affairs of your house? Of your family? Teach your children to take ownership of their items, too. Teach them to wash and clean up themselves.
The story of Everbody: This is a story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody. There was an important job to be done, and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody’s job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it. So it ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have. -Author Unknown
When something belongs to everyone, no one will take ownership of it. Remember that story where an assignment was given to anybody? But NOBODY did it because EVERYONE assumed SOMEONE would do it. So, in the end, NOBODY did the job.
